There is no "thumbnail-crop" in X3, mainly because the concept of "thumbnails" doesn't really exist in X3. X3 creates- and outputs multiple sizes of all images, to suit any combination of layout/screen/device. CROP is only an option if you want all images in a single gallery to be symmetrical (identical aspect), but no unfortunately there is no "crop-selection" if you choose crop.
