Hi Mate,
Internet is not slow. Latency is not slow either.
20,000 kbps down / 1,200 kbps up
Click star. Wait....................Thanks!.
Disable email notifications.
Click star. Wait. Thanks!
Big difference. The server is not slow. Server Load = 0.34, 0.80, 0.61
Latency between me and server = 11ms.
Hops between me and server =
SMTP Configuration:
Now as ImageVue seems to send emails in a really silly way (Name: Root, despite configuring ALL fields in Mail section) I have enabled SMTP Email sending with TLS security.
No other site software experiences this. E.g. contact forms and order notifications and client websites. It is only ImageVue that has this delay.
After I tried editing the code, and starring some items, I began to receive errors from the mail server "Failed to deliver mail after 48 hours....." and the TO: field was blank LOL. So don't edit the Rating code and disable email notifications. It still sends emails, but as config updated in your module, email address = "".
So that is fixed...
I'm still lost!
ADMIN COOKIE
A cookie is saved in the browser to remember you have already authenticated. Cookies are used.
If I click on NEWS. Then click on an item, it opens up an Edit form.
If I open another browser, click on NEWS. Then click on an item, it takes me to that photo!
So obviously cookies are used - if logged in to PowerPack, then display Edit form.
Cookies must be used, as if I can edit my own guest book entries, and not edit anyone elses, then it must remember me.
ALL COMMENTS.
It would be great if there was an "easier" way to check all comments. e.g. a listing with Columns: "Gallery", "Photo Name", "Comment". "Date".
e.g. something crude - a simple table layout with Edit and Delete. That would be truly useful.
I never receive notifications of new comments, just ratings and guest book entries.. There is an error_log in the directory
EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS - COMMENTS
I'll send you a link to the gallery. I've since wiped and re-uploaded everything and yes, still get it

I've no idea. I recently added htaccess file to block access to xml files, due to email addresses and other configuration and settings inside.
But it was already occurring by this stage. I can only think it is TLS or something else. I'm looking at an old 2.8.10 install and 2.8.9 install. Both are immediate, however these clients use the same SMTP settings, so perhaps it is a 2.8.10.3 issue (newest blank install).
If you use the contact form, you don't get the usual message you see from any other script. e.g. "Root" as sender name. Email as "
xyz@blahbla.server.com".
Just received a rate notification then -
domainname.com@platinum.boron.tld.com. That is the From Address, (No from name).
I rated a photo and just received the email notification. It's immediate.
I commented on a photo however have not received any notification. Looking at the directories and files I find this: /powerpack/comment system/error_log
Inside it has:
PHP Warning: DOMDocument::load() [<a href='domdocument.load'>domdocument.load</a>]: Start tag expected, '<' not found in /home/xxx/public_html/xxx/extras/userFiles/comments/xxxxxxxxxxx_5F0451.xml, line: 1 in /home/xxx/public_html/xxx/extras/powerPack/comment_system/message_writer.php on line 28
Inside the XML file mentioned above (Not sure why the "5F"s are throughout the file name above, the original photo just had underscores, rather than "_5F"...) it contains:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Allcomments><commented name="Mr X." comment="Test test test! Testing comment notifications!" date="16092013123115" who="admin"/></Allcomments>
So the comment is saved to the system, but no email notification is sent...
I've tried this in two installations and it is corrrect. Neither will send comment notifications, but will send Rating notifications.
I also found an ERROR_LOG file within the power pack extra's folder.
Dated just an hour ago when I logged in and did nothing (nothing you can do!)
PHP Warning: mysql_fetch_assoc() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/xxx/public_html/xxx/extras/powerPack/install2.php on line 665
COMMENT NUMBER ICON
I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying the NUMBER is too small. I'm not saying that the number should be floating around the screen. When I say "the number above the comments bubble", the "above" is referring to it being "ON TOP" of the icon. i.e. In front of it. Regardless how you want to say it, the fact of the matter is that it is impossible to see there is 1 or 4 or 9 comments for a photo.
Where is the styling controlled for the numeric digits in your code?
LANGUAGES
Yes I am aware of this. This is what I have had to do. But I am notifying you that it is inconsistent and needs to be addressed as will confuse people.
BUG:
When editing a comment in front-end (once logged in to PowerPack module.
If you edit a comment, all the \n\r are lost. So everything is wrapped up onto one line! Making it hard to edit and save as you have to then add all the enter's again!
Okay, back at the computer - I forget what else I was going to say but thank you so much for all your work mate!
