HTML Version

04 Jul 2013, 00:36

According to https://www.photo.gallery/documentation/html-gallery/ page "the HTML gallery has a basic layout". However when I click on the <view in HTML> link on my gallery (at http://www.monkeyshrine.com/photos/ a new tab opens and the URL appears exactly the same, as does the layout. I don't think the HTML gallery opens? Can someone please check?

Default page is "Gallery" but Enable HTML is "clicked".

This is both in Chrome and in iexplore. I have tried on the demo Gallery too, https://www.photo.gallery/demo/x2/#p=html, with the same apparent result in either flash or html.

If I set default page to "HTML" then the HTML albums are displayed.

BTW, the images on the above page are missing? So I can't even see what it's meant to look like?

Under:

If I click this off, then the HTMl gallery will load.

However, the gallery at https://www.photo.gallery/demo/x2/#p=html still loads as flash I think.

Let me explain this, as it was a fragment of former technology meets new optimization. Basically the html version was just that, the html version before, and could be accessed with path/?p=html. However, since Google indexes the html version while human visitors see the flash version, we thought we needed to embed a redirect method. Therefore, the html version currently redirects to the flash version IF the visitor has flash installed. This is basically how it should work, but it will prevent you from previewing the html version. Currently, the Html version is not much used anyway, because non-flash uses will normally see the mobile version (not the html version).

Where did you get that link from? Yes it loads flash as long as it has the #hash symbol. The link to the html is normally with /?p=html unless you have been redirected. Let me put it this way: Nobody is navigating to /#p=html ...
