Cards?

05 Jun 2013, 15:38

As the web evolves, we notice there are elements that are, not only becoming popular, but are becoming a staple of web design because you can disseminate information more efficiently. One of these elements is the "card" display on screens, ie., Google+, Pinterest, a lot of "app" sites, etc.
Any plans in the future to incorporate this?

I know it's quite a leap from the current design. But what about making mods as "faux cards"? A cross between a text page and file mod that can be populated on a single page? Or just have the ability to put multiple filemods on a single page?

You could set up a textpage, save it and it would also save a smaller textpage "mod" that can be customized and set to appear as thumbnails.

Does that make sense?

I am really not quite sure what you mean by this "card" display. Have any examples?

Most are being used by social sites such as:

http://pinterest.com/ and http://www.google.com/landing/now/ which is more for tablets and mobile but rumors and reports are hinting that it will soon come to Chrome.

This talks about the new Google+ design:

What I'm thinking is that these could be basically a redesign of the thumbnails with the tooltip. Instead of a popup rollover, you have the option to make thumbnails like

Its basically just a design elements, and yea it does look nice ... I think "cards" though is mostly referring to how Google stacks huge amounts of information into "cards" elements. It is mostly in conjunction with their efforts in Google+ where you scroll vertically and "posts" are stacked and separated in what Google choose to call "cards". Thanks!
