Getting Flash Site on Android Device

08 Jul 2012, 11:20

Often when I bring up http://www.merelyafleshwound.com on an android device I get the flash site instead of the mobile site. When I refresh the browser it then switches to the mobile site.

I never get this problem when navigating to mobile Wordpress sites.

Please advise.

I have this written down since the 2.8 beta thread, however I can't recreate it using my android device. Can I ask you to upload this test.php file somewhere at your server, open it in your android, refresh the page a few times and tell me if you see the output different from:

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-us; ADR6300 Build/GRJ22) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1

the results I get are the same as yours. you can find the file at http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/test.php

I wonder if the logic that determines which gallery to display checks to see if the Flash Player exists on a device... maybe there is a mix up if Flash is present.

The other day I was installing software on a new PC... hadn't installed the Flash Player yet... when I brought up www.merelyafleshwound.com in the browser it loaded the html site. So... Imageview must check to see if the Flash Player is present.

I have tried to test it, and yes, I saw what you are describing. First time I've opened your site on the android phone – it showed up the flash version. The same thing was when I installed the user-agent switcher in my computer and pretended that I am an android device.

But this is it, no matter what I've tried, I couldn't recreate it. I tried other browsers, clearing cache and cookies, it was showing me the mobile version. Have you noticed any pattern or have any ideas how can I see it again?

Do you have this issue when you open https://www.photo.gallery/demo/x2 on your phone? Right now I suspect this is something related to your server. The fact that you're the only person reporting this indirectly supports this theory.

Nick...

I purged the cache... accessed the demo... got the mobile.
Then I accessed www.merelyafleshwound.com and got the Flash site.

I think your theory on checking our server is good. Stay tuned.

I deleted a couple of suspicious looking files that were in my root directory that were not in the imagevuex download.

I then loaded the latest imagevuex version 2.8.1 (july 8th)

the mobile site worked work perfectly from my phone... however... when I brought up http://www.merelyafleshwound.com in my PC browser I would get the mobile site. If I hit refresh I would then get the Flash site.

After noticing some duplicate looking directories... ie. jquery-mobile and jquery.mobile... I deleted my iv-admin and iv-includes directories and re-loaded them fresh from the 2.8.1 download.

Everything works fine now. I think there were some old files in the includes directory that needed to be cleaned up.
