Some Thumbnails Appear 'Strange' Even After Re-Creating.

12 Oct 2011, 17:59

As can see here - http://artgallerix.com/#/content/Cubism ... d%20Leger/ (Different sizes)

and here - http://artgallerix.com/#/content/Cubism ... 20Picasso/ (After hovering over a thumbnail then the whole image doesn't appear in-front of the other ones, difficult to explain, try and you will see what I am talking about..)

Lastly..When I updated to latest Imagevue then I didn't remove the "cotent" folder and instead let it be with all the folders and folder files (folderdata.xml included). Perhaps, that got something to do with it..

Also.. I get error messages that some images have non utf 8 char(s) in their names. Maybe that is causing the thumbnails to look 'strange'?

What can I do in order to fix it? I guess I need to fix the folderdata.xml files, but how? Please help me.

Thanks.

I checked these galleries, and can't see any problem with thumbnails. Sometimes you may see weird hover states caused by upgrading thumbnails or changing thumbnail sizes, and you may need to clear your browser cache.

Doubtful ... I can't even see the problem to be honest, so perhaps you can make a screenshot?

I will ask Nick to take a look at the error output ...

Unfortunately due to various restrictions in filesystems we have to insist on plain lating filenames. You have files with french accenter letters in them. This only applies to files, you can use any letter in Titles or Descriptions though.

Normally when you upload files like these, Imagevue removes those characters from filenames but keeps in the title. So I would suggest you to rename them.

Yes, I believe it was due to the browser cache because now the thumbnails looks as they should in the Leger folder. (The thumbnails have the same sizes)

The picasso folder doesn't seems to work at all anymore (no thumbnails is shown anymore). The reason why I could see thumbnails in the picasso folder before maybe also got to do with the cache.. Anyway, I guess that issue is due to the missing folderdata.xml file in which I already made another thread about. The folderdata.xml file is there.. So that topic is solved. The issue with the picasso folder, maybe instead have to do with the image names?

When it comes to the image names. If I understood it correctly. The image names needs to be plain lating filenames, otherwise they won't appear correctly in the gallery? Is there any other way to get around the problem than renaming the images? Why I am asking is because I believe it would take some time to rename all the images that needs it..

The thing is, it should work if your filesystem was in UTF-8. But it is not, so I can't offer anything better right now, unfortunately.

Actually we might provide you with a script that does that. I'll post here again.

OK, well if you come up with a solution to this it would be cool.

Sorry for delay, presenting

Imagevue non-Unicode Files Renamer™

It is better to have a backup of your content folder just in case.
