Slideshow hanging/crashing

02 Oct 2006, 18:37

Hello

My Slideshow is hanging when using the forward/backward function successively. The only option you have then is leaving the slideshow [X].

It happens after 10 - 15 times clicking on forward Arrow for example. And more often if you won't wait for the next image and descripton has completely loaded before clicking again. Same behavior with the keyboard controls.

Please have a look at:

Thank you,
Romeo

Very annoying Problem. Any solution yet?

I am wondering why other users do not complain about the same?

Probably it is because there are not so many Slideshows configured with image description or it seems the descriptions need to be configured in a specific way? I was using html tags in my description-text, was this causing the problem?

As workaround I disabled the image Description completely. It was not what I wanted but at least the slideshow is no longer hanging...

Sorry to bother again.

But I just found another Slideshow with the same problem:
http://portfolio.pixelfight.com/

I'm now quite sure it is because of the html Tags in the description.

Sorry for the late reply on this issue - It was a hard nut -

I have fiddled around a little, and it seems like the issue might be solved. Would anyone interested want to check the example link below:
<a class="mlink" href="http://imagevuex.inn.no/imagevue/17/sli ... >Slideshow with long descriptions</a>

The issue with the slideshow hanging was proposedly related to displaying descriptions while clicking "next" very frequently. Hopefully, it will not hang now - However, keep in mind that the performance might "seem" to hang sometimes since you are clicking through relatively large images at the maximum pace of your internet provider. Descriptions might also seem "jumpy". The point here is to remove the issue where it actually hangs and browser needs to be refreshed --

PS! The update in the link is not public yet ----

Thank you for the link, I was trying twice yesterday:

First Time it was crashing again after some time but I was not able to reproduce it. On my second try it was running without any problems.

I was using EDGE Connection via GSM (200 kBit/s) both times. Probably it was an Issue with my bandwidth. On my second try there were allot of the pictures in my Cache already, so pictures were loading much faster.

It's definitely working better now!

The Imagevue17.zip under our downloads section has a datestamp of 17. November - I just double checked.

Perhaps you have some mixup in your download folder target?
