Configurable Background with Widgets, Feeds, Images Etc.

23 Jan 2011, 11:41

Enhancement Request:

I would like the imagevue background to be more configurable than just having the ability to include a background image and the position of that image.

It would be cool to be able to position various images, feeds, widgets, etc into the image view background. For example I would like to include a twitter feed and possibly a feed of posts from various forum sites that are relevant to my site. The attached image is an example of a twitter feed.

It might also be nice to have the ability for the widgets on the background to change with when different folders are selected.

For example... on my site I have a kayaking section and a mountaineering section. I would like to have a feed from a kayaking forum displayed if the user is viewing kayak images... and mountaineering feed displayed if the user is viewing mountaineering images.

Generally, I agree that it would be cool to have a few more options for integration into the background image. Now that we have multiple backgrounds in Imagevue X2.6, we can think about some options here. However, there are a few things that you may be overlooking ...

We can't just load twitter feeds or forum feeds into imagevue flash backgrounds. You simply can't do that, because they are dynamic html components. Even if we could, how would we be able to create a clean interface and make sure that these feeds align and display nicely on all screen sizes? This is virtually impossible ... Where would you position a feed?

We certainly may be interested in integrated some more advanced options, possibly in the background image, but most likely more subtle stuff located at bottom or far left.
