one thumbnail won't comply

08 Jan 2011, 05:08

Hi,

why does the thumbnail of the latest picture I uploaded have a thick border around it? It looks out of place and I don't know how to change it. See what I mean here: http://www.dblewett.com/gallerysecond/# ... Portraits/

Not only that, there's also a thick black border between the first and second lines of the thumbnails that definitely wasn't there before

thanks in advance for the answer

cheers

Dominic

In fact, this is because one of your thumbnails has a different size than all the others. Why? Because the first thumbnails were created with a different thumbnails setting than you currently have. You need to go to "thumbs" and recreate thumbnails in that specific folder ... and then clear your browser cache. This will solve everything ...

Ah,

Well I thought I did what you said but now it looks even worse: http://www.dblewett.com/gallerysecond/# ... Portraits/

Although they're all the same now I don't like it. Previously, all of my thumbnails were just smaller versions of the images and there were no borders at all between them vertically or horizontally - how can I get them to look that way again please?

thanks

Well, this is quite easy to fix as you like, thats why there are options in the thumbs window.

You can create thumbnails exactly as you like. When you went to "thumbs", you must have seen some size settings for the thumbnails? Read more here:
https://www.photo.gallery/documentation/create-thumbnails/

You should be setting your thumbnails to "resizetobox" to keep them same aspect as your originals. However, if you do this, you will of course get BORDERS because you have a mix of aspects in this folder. How else would the gallery display your different-aspect thumbnails without creating borders(margins)? Only if you create them with "croptobox" will all thumbnails be identical, and you are sure to not have extended margins or borders ...

There is actually a small bug going on, which is fixed in the latest release. You can fix this though (without having to upgrade), by uploading a "dud" image, and then delete it ... Then margins will update and fix the layout.

In the end of the day, you have FULL control of the size- and style of your thumbnails, and the layout ...

Hi,

I did what you suggested (upload a dud image to each folder and then delete it) and it looks the way I want it to.

many thanks
