File charset makes files fail to work

21 Jan 2010, 06:24

If I upload files with Cyrillic names such files are not shown then.
If these are photos, they're not shown, if these are MP3-tracks, they're not played.
What to do?

I want Russian characters to work as well. Renaming doesn't suit me.

You need to have ID3 in UTF8, iTunes for example does that.

The problem is that all files named in Cyrillic characters don't work till Cyrillic characters are removed fom their names. I want this problem to be solved somehow because I can't rename big amounts of files every time.

I am afraid this can't be solved, you need to rename files, the thing is, filesystem is not in utf-8, thus there is no way for imagevue to read those files correctly.

Ofcourse if there been easy workaround we'd built it already, that'll just will get people into more troubles. That's why we always say – name your files in plain latin.
More than that, next release will rename files on upload automatically.
