Feature Request: File Renaming in Admin Interface

07 Feb 2009, 20:01

Hey there!
I just thought of a simple addition to the admin interface:
It would be very very nice to be able to rename the image files in the folders without having to use an ftp client.
My ftp client doesn't seem to keep "last edited" date in the image files, which is rather annoying.
So if you could add a feature that would enable me to just upload the images and then renaming them however I want while they're serverside, that would make things a whole lot easier for me. :)

This certainly would be a helpful feature, especially when trying to arrange the order images appear. As it stands we have to use the FTP client to re-name files if we want to change the order, and then have to re-enter descriptions.

Yes, that was my thought, too. :)

We are working on the manual sorting for the next major release. Maybe you won't need renaming of physical files then.

Thank you, that sounds wonderful! :)

Speaking of manually sorting things, is it possible to manually sort folders yet?
Here I'm thinking about the top level menu as well as the gallery itself. :)

no, manual sorting of folder currently requires renaming folders. We will be working on some drag- and drop functionality for sorting of folders- and files in major release coming this spring.

Drag'n'drop sounds terrific. :)
I'm really looking forward to the next release.

Thank you guys for making such a nice product. :)
