Ordering using EXIF??

24 Jan 2009, 18:35

In many of my galleries, it would be useful if I could order the photos by EXIF capture time (so the photos have a logical time progression). Currently, we're stuck with file time, which means the ordering is performed by the time stamp for when I process them.

Using file names isn't always accurate because I have galleries taken with different cameras and storage cards (which resets the file numbers).

I certainly understand you ... This has been requested earlier, and we will be looking into it. It will require some special admin function to sort images based on EXIF.

You are aware there is a DATE sorting function also? This of course uses server creation time datestamp.

Yes, I am aware of the DATE sorting order, but I assume this is sorting on the time/date that I export my photos from my editing software (which isn't usually the same order as I took the photos).

Something else I am researching is a program that will set the file timestamp to the data/time that is in the EXIF data. That will help a great deal.

But yes, if a future update of imagevue will support capture time ordering, it will be perfect for my needs.

We're aiming for that in 2.1, which should see the light of the day in about a month.
