While I haven't tested it, I'm assuming this is possible. I would try the following:

Set the initial folder to be viewed:
config > settings > startpath

Set startmode to image
config > settings > startmode

Remove the "togglethumbnails" maincontrols item
config > controls > maincontrols > items

Remove the "togglethumbnails" entry on rightclick
config > controls > rightclick > controls

Disable click and shiftclick going to back thumbnails
(dont' select showthumbnails)
config > image > click
config > image > shiftclick

Disable the close button
config > image > closebutton > enabled

Maybe disable the thumbnailscroller
config > thumbnails > thumbnailscroller > enabled

I think that's it; let me know if I missed anything...

You can sue the slideshow module independent from the other galleries.

In a future release, we are thinking of adding some 'toggles' so that you can set imagemode and slideshowmode per folder.
