Very cool photography there. Are you the owner, or are you only setting up the gallery?
# I like the background with contact info - Nice usage of the background scale feature we integrated recently. I did notice that depending on aspect of the stage, some of the info is lost ... You could try setting scalemode = showAll instead of noBorder. It will always display the entire background file.
# The fonts are too large for my taste, but I know some people like it like that, and some clients require it like that so its very accessible. Would perhaps be nice to bring in a color also for some 'freshness'? Maybe not, just thinking ...

I hear you on the background info. I tried many different variations. When I used the scale feature, it would scale in both dimensions independently, sometimes distorting the text. I decided to do it this way, as a middle solution. In this case, would be ideal to have the text "scale-to-stage" in only the vertical dimension, but keep the horizontal dimension fixed. This is admittedly a special case....
I ended up with this size background jpeg and using "noBorder" as a middle solution. I will try it on various screens. For the same reason, I ended up using actual size pictures, as I shot in different mediums, and had more control on how the images were presented: polaroids close to actual size, portrait format as large as possible, landscape a little wider, etc. The "fit to margin" option is great, but would be even better if you could set margins top and bottom AND left and right, (like "fit to margin long side"). Another great feature for the next update!

I gotta admit, I don't fully understand your "margin" suggestion - There is already a setting image.margin which sets minimal margin around the image. I don't see what difference it makes if the picture is portrait- or landscape.
Landscape pictures will most likely be affected by the horizontal margin, and portrait pictures will be affected by the vertical margin.

When I set the margin, it seemed to only limit the vertical dimension of the image.
For example, when I set it to fit the portrait images inside the stage, then the landscape images would expand to fill the same margin top and bottom, but they would be much bigger, side to side, than the portrait images.

Well, that is true ... In most cases, it's the vertical margin being used and not only for portrait images, but also for landscape images. Why? Because all screens are wide 4:3 or even 16:9, and also adding the browser navigations and taskbar, the available stage area mostly has a wider aspect than even wide images. This means they will hit the vertical margin barrier before they hit the horizontal.
Not sure what you mean "...when I set it to fit the portrait images inside the stage" - a margin is for ALL images, but mostly its the margin above and below the image that kicks in. At least on portrait images, that unfortunately are not as good as landscape images for displaying on computer screens.
