Audio load jams the whole gallery

04 Dec 2008, 15:11

Hi all,

PreLoading the gallery jams cause of audioplayer. It seems to wait until songs are loaded before activating the gallery. If I switch from one song to another or turn off the volume it takes a while before my gallery is activ again.

How come?

Not quite sure what the problem is - Perhaps you have a link? One thing is sure - If your gallery has audio, you might have a very slow experience viewing the gallery as it's loading full mp3 files at the same time as its' loading images and scripts. Other than that, the audioplayer operates independent from the gallery - It lives it's own life in the top right corner. The only connection is if you are using "use_imagefolder", then the audioplayer will change content based on currenty gallery you are browsing. It still has no effect on the gallery, except it will slow down things!

Yes, exactly. Would you rather have a 5MB file loading in the background when there is no music? I doubt other users will agree with that - They stop music or turn off volume, and they don't want the track to steal their bandwidth.

Why does the song get reset? If the track is stopped and unloaded, it can't simply restart in the middle of the track, unless the entire track has been preloaded.
