Limit Thumbnail Grid Pattern to e.g. 3 by 3

27 Oct 2008, 12:24

First of all V2 is very nice!

Is there a possibility to limit the grid pattern of the thumbnails e.g. to 3 columns by 3 rows?

Good question -

We had some settings for this in an earlier version, but i temporarily removed them because there were some bugs.

You can however work it out if you know your thumbnail sizes, frame width and space. For example, if your thumbnails are 120x90, your frames are 5px and the space between thumbs is 5px, the required space is:

horizontal:
(120*3)+(5*2*3)+(5*2) = 400
[width*amount]+(framewidth*2sides*amount)+(space*(amount-1))]

vertical:
(90*3)+(5*2*3)+(5*2) = 310

Round those amount slightly upwards to 410 and 320 to remove any insecurities, and add the value to admin -> config.thumbnails.thumbnails.maxwidth and maxheight.

Now there will always be 3x3 thumbnails, as long as the thumbnails are 120x90.

Thanks a lot, because if i could limit the columns and rows i am able to put a logo on the background image slightly on the top right corner of the thumbnail grid. But if the i can't limit the rows the logo will be behind the grid...

Hello Karl,

works as expected. See for yourself. Therefore you dont really need an extra function for that ... :)

P.S.: Now i can place a Logo at the top right of the grid, but it works only at resolutions >1280x1024... so the feature for an extra logo layer would be great. With more or less dynamic placement... but could be a bit tricky at the end...
