When I add a user, or want to change my password, you can type anything into the "Re-type password" box. There is no error message.

When you want to log in with the new password, it doesn't work.
When you have only the user admin, and change the password incorrectly, then you can not log-in anymore!

No, I can not login as that user anymore.
Not with and not without a password.
