Site Menu Popup Question

06 Oct 2006, 01:48

I have gotten feedback from several folks about the site menu popup. Here is what they are saying:
When I allowed the pop-up, it popped up a new window the same size as the browser window that opened it. I recommend specifying the size of the new window so that it nicely fits your portrait and text. The "About" pop-up also does not have a close button.
I am not concerned about he close button. But several people have stated the window is too small or too big. How can I make it a fix size?

Thanks

Matt

Can you provide a link? I have never seen a popup open the size of window that opened it in Imagevue, and its certainly not set that way from the sitemenu.

I think I might have stated the problem incorrectly as I wasn't fully understanding it myself till today. When a site menu option is clicked, the popup window opens often only at half or even a third the size of the page that it contains. Now, I will confess that on my Mac it works fine, this was why I was unaware of it till lately. I had asked several people to view and critique my website and this was a common issue. I looked at it on my friends PC and when we clicked the site menu for my Blog, I only saw a small potion of the page it contained. The URL of my site is http://thedigitaltrekker.com

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

I am not sure where you get the idea that a popup is supposed to open at the same size as "the window that contains it". Now I am a PC user, and the in the most popular PC browsers, Firefox and Internet Explorer, popup windows are not contained inside the window that opens them - They are independant windows. The only browser that does that is Safari, and I guess perhaps some mac browsers.

Popup windows are opened at a specified size, and in your case, you have not specified the size of the popup windows. See the link below to see that you must add width and height parameters when using popup:

<a href="https://www.photo.gallery/440" class="mlink">linkXclick</a>
Code
linkXclick = popup,[width],[height]
linkXclick = popup,400,300

Karl,

All I know is what folks tell me. As I said, I use a Mac and it opens just fine for me. Anyway, thanks for the info I have now adjusted the window size to open so the viewer can see the whole page.

Thanks again,
Matt
