It is possible, and it will be available in a future version presumably next year.

In addition, the ability to use IPTC info would be highly desirable to me, as I add captions to my photos that I have shot for wire services and could then use the IPTC caption field as my descrption. Currently I am using third party software to genearate the desc.txt file for each gallery that pulls info from the IPTC fields in my photos. If this were integrated into IV, it would eliminate this step.

I second that. Exif is useful but IPTC is great in case you publish from a managed environment.

Now for the scary part. What if you could extract the keywords, assemble them into a listing and navigate from there, regardless of the physical folder structure? Along the same lines you could organize it like a time line or the people in the picture, or the country/city the picture was taken in, or ..... The drawback is you'd probably have a lot of back end processing perhaps even a database...

Can you please elaborate on this subject? What attributes are you interested in first place? How do you usually work with them? Do you store descriptions in files? Etc..
