Title without file extensions

21 Apr 2010, 13:47

Imagevue V1 used filenames as titles for images.

Imagevue X2 can do the same. However, in contrast to V1, it includes the file extension.

Is there a possibility to use the file name as title without showing the file extension?

Tanks a lot for your help!

Unfortunately no

With Imagevue X2, the filename is kept clean, and then you can use the TITLE if you want to have it display differently ...

I could perhaps integrate a hook for this in next release if it is incredibly important for you ...

That would be great, because it's to much work to edit the title of about 1000 pics ;-)

Thanks a lot mjau-mjau!

Actually now I am thinking maybe make it a default behavior - strip extensions when auto-titling. What do you think?

I think we add it as an option, and perhaps by default enable it. There may be some customers who don't want their extensions forcibly removed with no way to regain them.

Don't think another checkbox is needed, why would anyone want to see .jpg near each title anyway?

Dunno, some customers have PNG, FLV, DOC, PDF, GIF etc. also ...

Personally, if I had an image "DC0001.jpg", I would rather have it display with the "jpg" than just some jargon "DC0001" ... at least people understand its a reference to an image. Also, if I have a PDF there, I want visitors to know its a PDF file. And although 90% may want to have extensions removed, we have a few thousand users who are using the existing format. I am willing to gamble that some people dont want the change ... so what to do with them? Wait until we get a few forum posts about those users who are asking "what happened to extensions?", and then add it to another update"?

File extensions are now stripped from auto-titles in Imagevue. This feature will be available in a new release pending for release later this week.
