Does the files app support PDF preview?

Do you mean so that small image previews are created from the PDF files in the layout? To me, this seems a bit pointless, because the visitor will only see small unreadable text from a PDF screenshot. I can't see how this allows the visitor to easily recognize the file.

If browser supports PDF viewer (most do), the PDF can be viewed in browser when opened in new tab of course. We currently have a request from another user to be able to open *.pdf in new window directly on click (instead of showing preview in the modal overlay). Could this be helpful? I was thinking of adding an option so you can choose certain extensions to open directly (new window) or download directly, bypassing modal and popup.
