I don’t think it’s necessary to display the extension. Can the next version be added to the setting?

It could perhaps be an OPTION to hide extension.

As a file browser, many users will want to see extension and complete name of the file. For non-image files (for example PDF, JS, MP4), it would be confusing to hide the extension, because the user doesn't know what kind of file they are interacting with.
