How are these thumnails accomplished?

I am seriously intrigued by how these thumbnails were accomplished. Can you please help

You mean how they link directly to galleries instead of the image?
1. Go to admin -> settings -> settings.attributes.image, add the link item.
2. Go to admin -> settings -> thumbnails.thumbnail.click, instead of "open", choose "link"
3. From Admin management, navigate to the folder where you will have the images that will represent folder links. Upload an image for each link to each folder. Click the images, and you will see a new field in your admin called "link". Add the relative link to your galleris here, for example #/foldername/.
