I believe that is because you have set fixed horizontalamount and verticalamount in your settings ... The page buttons are pushed outside the visibile area of the screen including margin, and are likely therefore not even rendered. I am not sure why you are using those settings ... They are for specific scenarios for example if the SWF is embedded at a fixed size. For default, when the gallery is supposed to scaled to fit various dimension screens, then you should not be locking the grid ... On small screens it breaks, and on big screens it could host more thumbnails ... You can tweak it with the other settings anyway ...

Try resetting them both to 0?

I used horizontalamount (5) and verticalamount (4) in my settings to fix the number of rows and columns of thumbnails
