is it possible to use own images as menu button or put an image below the menu text?

That's an alternative, but the pictures wont cover the hole button.

An image below the menu text? Sorry, but you cant add images anywhere in a menu item, because the menu would not be capable of automatically adapting to size and position. You can only use menu icons, as specified in the link from Martin.
