Titling your image

I would like to have my images only titled with the title value from the IPTC info. The only way I can make this work is to enable "AuoTitling" which will now display the title value from the IPTC info, but if there is no value then it uses the file name. I would like it to only use the IPTC info and then leave blank if there is no value. I use default file names and it is not appealing to the eye to have _DSC1975.jpg underneath the image.

I also notice that if I upload the image w/out a title and then reupload the image again with an upated title it will not display that title until I delete the folderdata.xml or the corresponding line out of it. Is there a way around this?

Thanks for the great gallery software! I am excited about getting more of my images in the gallery. Jason

The thing is, in Imagevue there is basically ALWAYS a title. The reason we have title in the first place, is because it is an alias for filename because filenames don't for example support html tags or localized characters ... With title, one can add a custom name for the file. Therefore, there is not really a scenario where the title is or should be empty ...

The autotitling from IPTC data is just an additional option we added.

You can choose to display the title or not, but in your case, it seems you want to display titles for some images(the ones with IPTC), and for others not ... There is no simple solution to this, but I have two suggestions which might help:

1. You can use folder-parameters to enable/disable titles for certain folders. This would solve your issue, but would require that your images with/without IPTC data are folder related and not mixed inside folders.

2. You would simply have to blank out the title or write a title for the images that don't inherit IPTC data.

3. Perhaps the best option which I did not think of, would be to change your TEXT to show EXIF instead of the TITLE. This way, only images with the EXIF/IPTC data will display the title, while images without this metadata will obviously not display anything ... This will of course prevent you from displaying any custom title at all. Also, you would need to edit the EXIF config file to only display your IPTC title ...
