change folders & thumbs

i'm really wondering why it is not possible to change the contentfolder to something like ../pics !!
Entering ../pics as contentfolder will bring up the error FOLDER DOES NOT EXIST - even when it exists

2)
to have a seperate thumbnail folder - eg. iv-tn - would be a security enhancement and would leave the picture-folder untouched, so other programs could use the contentfolder without the thumbnails.

I'm wondering a bit what you mean by ../pics ... Do you mean that you want to access a folder that is not inside the Imagevue root folder? First of all, not many servers allow scripts (like Imagevue) to access files and folders that are not inside the folder where the script is installed. Why? Because that means the Imagevue scripts can be abused to display information about any folders and files on your server. The proper workaround for this, is to install Imagevue in the root of your website, and then you can point it to ANY content folder (you don't need to actually display Imagevue in the root of your folder, just disable index.php)

We have considered this earlier, and will consider it again ... Thanks for your suggestions!
