upgrading from 2.1 to 2.6 error

17 May 2011, 00:20

hello,

I have a version 2.1 on my site right now (http://allanreyesphoto.com). When I tried to upgrade to 2.6 by following the instructions on this page http://bit.ly/ifPw6Q I got this:

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks!

You've uploaded some files to incorrect places or did not upload them at all. So they can't be found. If you provide the ftp login to your server we can help you upgrade and upload everything.

But I made sure that I followed everything.

I only removed what was asked and I only uploaded what was asked. The instructions were pretty simple. I don't understand what went wrong :?

You're saying I should give you my username and password for my ftp? I don't think that's safe at all :|

I guess then we have to do it another way:

1. Download latest imagevue or even better the beta from here https://www.photo.gallery/?file=imagevuex27beta.zip
2. Upload everything from the .zip file in a separate folder. Make sure you don't loose folders on the way.
3. Make sure the new installation works (admin will be at /iv-admin)
4. Move content folder from the old gallery

At this stage you will have your new gallery working. But you will probably want to move configs too.

Move config:
1. Move everything from imagevue/config to iv-config (2.7) or iv-includes/config (2.6)
2. For 2.7 only: rename iv-config/configUser.xml to config.xml

If you edited themes then you need to move your theme folder to iv-includes/themes.
But if you've edited one the default themes, make sure to rename if (say from default to mydefault)

This is it.

Thanks Nick for all your help.

I followed your instructions... made a test folder and did everything there and it worked.

Now I'll try to figure out what the old ones are in my root directory so I can delete them and put new ones in.

Thanks again!!!

I got it to work now.

I just need to play around with it.

Thanks again Nick!!!

The issue was, when I installed 2.1, I put all the loose files in the main directory. But when I upgraded to 2.6, I put the new ones in a folder instead of overwriting the old ones. Does that make sense? LOL

Yeah, it was obvious that some files has been misplaced.
