Countdown Clock

09 May 2011, 13:21

Hey folks,

I'm really impressed with the all the new features of the new version of ImageVue - this just keeps getting better & better.

I've just set up an Imagevue web site to be our new wedding web site (we are getting married next year). I'm going to use the site show pictures and give info about the wedding during the run up and after the event. It's going to be the main source of information about what is happening so it's excellent that Imagevue makes it so easy to do updates wherever I can get logged in.

I would really love to have a count down clock showing the number of days/hours/minutes till the big event like have seen on other web sites but I can't figure out a way to incorporate them into the Imagevue application.

I have tried embedding the CGI and JavaScript calls in the code section of the textpage option but this doesn't seem to work. It only shows hyperlinks and not the actual clock.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can get a live count down clock embedded into the site, either in a text page or on a page on its own selected from the main dropdown menu.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers, Keith.

Since this is not a part of Imagevue, it would need to be some external code/php/javascript ... Unfortunately, flash textfields are basically only text (with formatting). You can not add complex html, php or javascript to a flash textfield ...

This leaves two options:

#1 You need to find a countdown timer script, and add it into the Imagevue page. This should be quite straightforward by simply adding the countdown code to iv-includes/templates/index.gallery.phtml. However, the downside with this, is that it will display below or over the Imagevue gallery itself, and is not linked in any way. It would always be there, unless you make some kinda javascript "close" button ... or perhaps have it open in some lightbox layer, with a close button.

#2 Create a flash countdown timer that can be embedded into a textpage. Must be in actionscript 2.0. I assume you wouldn't be able to do this yourself, and it maybe hard to find something on the internet ... I might be able to help, but I would have to charge something.
