Enhancement Request:

It would be cool if users had the ability to comment on images and folders. An option to require a password to comment might be a good idea.

A password to comment ... nah ... wouldnt get my vote.
Further Karl already mentioned a guestbook will be implemented in a later edition.

Imagevuex is not database driven so a user system is kinda out of the question.

But it would be a great addition to comment on an image:
im all for a comment image function ... at least as it contains a good captcha.
Its always great to give comments on an image or to debate over an image

But how will you tell user abc1 isnt the same as abc2 and so on.
Normally you can do this with a loginscheme ... but then you would have to store that info somewhere (database)

Ah well lets see what Karl and Pain think of it.

if there was a pw it could work similar to a folder that is pw protected.... no user concept required

Comments are normally handled by heavy systems like wordpress, forums or services like flickr. Starting this would be like opening a can of worms for us ... We would consider it, but at best, it would be an inferior system that can't handle login schemes, security, avatars, long debates, email reply notifiers etc. Where did you imagine for the comments to display? Normal comments often happen on HTML web pages with practical scrollbars ... This is why people use them for this, and why they work. Do you really think people would bother debating in a small compromised flash comments area? At best, I can imagine someone posting their appreciation for an image, and not really getting into discussion ... The guestbook will handle general feedback/appreciation.

You have a lot of adventures going on in your gallery btw, looks like a lot of fun! I can understand why you would want comments in some way. In fear of undermining Imagevue, I would consider having some Facebook "page" (It could be for your concept, and not linked directly to you) where you would mirror the images and events. This would allow comments and dialogs for your images ...

Well, you have your gallery, but it is not very good for social interaction right? Why not create a Facebook page like we have for Imagevue: http://www.facebook.com/imagevue

You could have facebook.com/merelyafleshwound, and your facebook page would be to promote photography. You could create galleries for all your photos, and any friends would be able to "like", comment, and discuss the photos, galleries and well as the events. You can tag people in the photos.

Now, Facebook would not be the best tool for maintaining all your photos, but you already have imagevue for that as your main promo page. You could mirror your photos on facebook, and also maintain it for the purpose of interaction. I am not quite sure if this is actually a business of yours, perhaps only a hobby, but Im sure people would enjoy staying updated on Facebook, and being tagged, getting updates, and commenting on pics & trips. Many photographers/event agencies maintain a separate Facebook page.

Gotcha... makes sense... so let me throw this out there....

How about an admin function that would create the FB album automatically using the photos and comments from an Imagevue folder?

Heh, sorry ... this is way beyond our capabilities. You would have to run your facebook "page" manually. It might be worth it (certainly if there is any business-value in this for you).
