I have attached a screenshot from a 13"MacBook. (Site is seen at full screen). There is a problem with the control bar overlaying the bottom of the pictures. If I decrease the size of the Firefox page the photos get very small (almost the same size as the thumbnail images).

This is because your thumbnails are bigger than the default, so they scale upwards, pushing the controls upwards also. There is no ultimate solution for this, but there are two alternative solutions:

1) Go to admin -> themes -> edit your theme, and reduce the thumbnails.thumbnailscroller.start_scale from 50 to perhaps 25.
2) Go to admin -> settings -> increase image.image.margin

I think the first solution is best.
