Jumbled settings dispaly in admin control X2.1.8.1

When in my admin panel, when I click to edit settings, everything suddenly overlapses and I can't see where I am and it's nearly impossible to edit any settings because I don't know which setting I am working on, has anyone else experienced this?
I am pretty sure it's not supposed to like this.
I am running Firefox version 3.0.19
Windows XP PRO service pack 3
I just ran the admin in Google Chrome and it actually looks completely different than it does in Firefox, in Firefox it look more like an older version of imagevue with a light gray background, and orange buttons etc. in Chrome it is a dark gray background, the Manage | Settings | Themes etc button are buttons (not text links) and they are blue and right at the top not in the middle of the screen.
Any help please, I mainly use Firefox
