I have been wrestling with the problem of e-commerce and imagevue for several years now.
I am using Actinic software, which is not ideal, but I have it already.
What I need to use this software is the ability of the 'buy' field in admin to fill itself in with prespecified data, and therefore create a link to the purchase page.
The following is a sample of what I wish to create:
<file name="SPW_8004.jpg" purchase="/acatalog/Photos.html?photo=
http://www.thephotoman.co.uk/Our_Photos ... t/Weddings and Wedding Evenings/994 22nd May 2010 Wedding of Shelley to Peter/09 Des Erin and Family/SPW_8004.jpg&name=SPW_8004.jpg" title="" description=""/>
I am sure that you can see how this works, however I will annotate part of it.
purchase="/acatalog/Photos.html - This is the link to the catalog page
There follows two parameters passed to the page - firstly the location of the picture, and secondly, the picture name.
One
?photo=
http://www.thephotoman.co.uk/Our_Photos ... t/Weddings and Wedding Evenings/994 22nd May 2010 Wedding of Shelley to Peter/09 Des Erin and Family/SPW_8004.jpg
Second
&name=SPW_8004.jpg"
It should be possile to add into admin the field for the link tio the purchase page, and the rest can be generated automatically.
If the above is too complicated then the following could be used.
Load the pictures, not only to the content directory, but also to a common directory, as in the following example -
<file name="EnJ_Eng_0_2280.jpg" purchase="/acatalog/Photos.html?photo=
http://www.thephotoman.co.uk/acat_pics/ ... 0_2280.jpg" title="" description=""/>
This requires the addition of two fields to admin. one as above for
/acatalog/Photos.html - the path to the catalog page
and one to direct the parameter to the common photo directory.
http://www.thephotoman.co.uk/acat_pics/
This gives less work for admin and more for the user.
My site is
www.thephotoman.co.uk. At present look at weddings and engagements, Emily and Jonny. Try clicking the shopping trolley on any photo and you will see the latter method in operation.
I do hope that this helps. It would be just as possible for me to adapt one of the free e-commerce programs to perform the same function and save everybody a lot of money.
Regards to all
Chris
