Uploader in X2.1.7 doesn't work

I just upgraded my installation to x2.1.7 and noticed that the uploaded doesn't work anymore. When I select a file nothing happens, the upload field just states the files I selected and stays in that state. I can cancel the upload proces.

Everything else seams to work fine.

Mac OS X 10.6.2 with Safari 4.0.4 and the latest Adobe Flash player.

On my sites (one is using 2.1.7) it works fine to upload pics via admin, but I am using Firefox.

First of all what kind of file are you trying to upload? An image file? How big is the file you are trying to upload? If it's 'big' it can takes some time... Did you give it some time before cancelling the upload?

It's a fairly small jpg file (around 200KB) Normally the browser reports activity via a spinning wheel in the url bar. When I click upload in 2.1.7 it doesn't do anything. It reports the file and states that it is uploading, but nothing happens.

I tried it in FireFox 3.6 for mac, but it doesn't work there either. I tried reuploading 2.1.7 and intalling a new copy of flash player but nothing seems to work.

The only thing I can do now is upload via a ftp program.

Hmm can't confirm this, just tried with Safari, everything is ok here, so it must be something server-specific, could you please provide a link to your gallery, Imagevue Control Panel and ftp logins so we could take a look what's going on?

It's definitely a server problem. I downloaded the installation to my local server (MAMP) and it works fine. I upoaded a fresh x2.1.7 to a test dir on my hostingserver and it doesn't work.

Thing is, if I contact their support unit I need to tell what they have to change.

Hi,

Since the update to x2.17 I'm experiencing exactly the same problems as discribed by JK.

Can somebody provide a solution please.

Thanks.

Update:

I just contacted my hosting provider and they do admit that it is propably a problem related to a php upgrade. I should contact their support desk. I will keep you informed.

I was answering similar question in email, in their case temp_upload_dir directive in php.ini was pointing to nowhere. This might be the case.

UP. This is wrong, we have same thing on our test server, I believe have to check what's going on individually.

I will open a topic on the support forum of my hosting provider and give them this detail. Hopefully they can fix the problem fast.

Hi,

I just got their answer in this case, they made it very easy for themselves:

Hi,

Regarding your issue, imagevue is no longer supported on our servers as
this is due to the php version 5.3, you can check for an update or a fix
for this to comply with 5.3 php version and update your files.

Should you have anymore inquiries please do not hesitate to contact
us thru our 24/7 online chat or email us.
Best Regards

SUPPORT

Is there something I can do about this, in my opinion, very easy answer?

This is little bit stupid, because imagevue works just fine with PHP5.3, we set it up on our test server to be on the edge of progress.

Anyway, I wrote to them to let us access your site from our IP, so I hope once they'll fix that we'll be able to check what's going on.
PHP Version 5.3.0-3
