Nothing newer than the x2 20090224 will work for me!!!??!

27 Jan 2010, 09:15

OK. I've been working quite a bit and still am having issues with getting imagevue to work properly for me. I will try to confine seperate issues to seperate threads.

I uploaded x2 20090224 to my site as noted in my earlier topic (search by name for all my trials and travails) and finally got it to work. When I tried later builds, however, it just won't go!

I set up a slideshow on my site with imagevue (20090224) in a folder called gallery in the root directory and it works.
http://www.smarttinc.com/preview-01.html

I set up a second imagevue set-up in a duplicate folder called gallery-test also in the root directory and changed the filepaths accordingly in all the head and body tags but it just won't go with anything up to and including the newest build.
http://www.smarttinc.com/preview-01-test.html

I uploaded the entirety of the imagvue folders including even the readme, which I'm sure has no effect on function, but the slideshow won't go. I tried uploading the contents of 20090224 into the test folder and it works great. I replaced it with the newest build again and ... nothing!

I checked the php info and there is no eAccelerator present as noted in other threads. Diagnostics are green across the board. Nevertheless I set up the .htaccess file as described earlier.

This is taking scores of paid hours to get right, but I don't want to throw it away because I already have so much vested in it.

Please help.

Checking your links, I went to both "sneak previews" ok ??????? ( actually, VERY nice photos of the model railways....) I see you are loading the galleries from .html page ? Here's a capture of my screen...

DON'T throw it away, my friend, it works very well indeed... went through the slide shows very nicely... I would say you've done an excellent job !!

Yes. It is an embedded slideshow. That should not be an issue, should it?

It's working ADMIRABLY... It COULD be your browser's cache still has the duff pages cached ??? clear all browser history, then try reloading your site
It may be a pain, but when you're playing with pages, your browser caches them for faster loading, so when you put the address in, it goes to it's cache.. dump the history completely, and the newest link will then be cached.... if you play more, then you need to clear the cache AGAIN !!!!

THanks for the kind words, but only the one that has the 20090224 build is working (page called preview-01.html) The alternate page running the November 09 upgrade (page called preview-test-01.html) won't work. All I get is white space. :( :( :(

Sorry for the delay. but at past 1.00am I had to retire to my bed !!

Works beautifully my friend, here's another screen shot with a bit of my desktop, to show you there is no "fiddle" !!! ( at the bottom right of the pic, you can just see the slideshow count-down timer at "3"..)

I pasted your link... went straight to your site... lightning fast !!! You have made an excellent job of your galleries, you should feel very gaoxing (as we say in China)
It's down to your system if you can't see it all... clear the ImagevueX cache. then clear your browser's cache and clear the browser history, as I said earlier.... if you STILL can't see your page, then download (free..) Gooooogle Chrome 4, (400% faster than IE rubbish !!) or, if you are in love with IE (rubbish !!) then download and install Gooooogle's Frame, and it will make IE (rubbish !!) about 100% faster.... once you have installed Goooooogle Chrome, you wont be able to live without it...

Thank you, Softones. I appreciate the input very much.

Yes. I checked it in Firefox and it works there, but it has to work for any visitor checking the site in IE or it's worthless. I don't want to exclude a large percentage of visitors who are not fans of the alternate browsers.

Still waiting for the actual Imagevue people to chime in on this...

I checked it in my (horrible) IE Windows 7, and it works fine, not as quick as Chrome, but it's all there..
Looks as if I've gone as far as I can for you, my friend... shout if you want me to test again, or anything.... good luck ( have you installed the LATEST flash player from Adobe ?????? )

IF you get bored, or anything, go here http://www.sinastudio.net/index.html

I also tried it here, and it works like a dream. Nice customization btw with small button/navigation, which is necessary of course on a minimized version ...

Thanks, mjau-mjau. So why can I not see it? I can't be the only one.

if you Gooooooooogle why it doesn't show, you'll find many entries... Adobe seems to have adjusted the security of their flash player and it caused much problem, if you right-click it, it says "movie not loaded.." you will have to look for the work-around for IE and the browsers that can't show it. My newest Adobe Flash plug-in crashes regularly as well.

Try testing it on your friends ? Works fine here, also not sure what exactly you experiencing, is it IE only problem? Or any browser? Try downloading latest flash player from adobe.

Well, I guess it's just this one computer at the office running IE7. It works fine at home with IE 7 even.
