Link in Thumbnail description

14 Oct 2009, 03:32

Hi,
i want these two things:

No Function "on Thumbnail-Click" but a link in the description to a website.

If i deactivate the Thumbnail-Function the links in the description are not working any more..

Any Ideas?

Thx!

Sorry, I am not understanding you completely. What are you trying to do?

If you set "false" on thumbnail "click" event, nothing will happen when clicking thumbnail of course. Links in what description? Perhaps a link will help to describe your issue ...

Well, you cant get that thumbnail to just use the link from your description ... Sorry, are you using Imagevue V1 or Imagevue X2?

However, in Imagevue X2, you can set LINK which will try to open a LINK for each thumbnail. If the LINK is not set, then it will open the image instead.

1. First, go to SETTINGS -> settings.attributes.image, ADD the "link" item. Click save.

2. Now you can go to each image from admin -> manage, and you will see a LINK field in the right-side panel.

3. Add your link to the LINK field, and click "save". Thumbnails will now open a link if they are clicked. If link is not set for an image, the thumbnail will default to opening the image/file instead.

THX for the help!

Another question for that issue:

Is it possible to have different Behaviour on thumbnail-click in different menu sections?

f.e.
i want in one menu section only a thumbnail rollover-info (tooltip) with no click action,
in another section i want to load the "big picture" after clicking the thumb

sounds similar to the topic-question, but is different

thx

Sorry, currently settings like this are GLOBAL and you cant make them folder-specific.

You could try a workaround, but I didn't try it myself yet:
#1 Set thumbnails to use LINK

#2 Thumbnails without a LINK will be treated as default, and simply open full-size image. Thumbnails with LINK, will open the specified link.

#3 For thumbnails that you only want to show tooltip, try creating a dead anchor-link, something like "#nothing". I would expect the system to think it is a link, but nothing would happen since the browser would just look for an anchor-link on the same page that does not exist.

thanks for the hint, but with "#nothing" firefox opens a new tab with "error 404" and in the galerie-tab itself the thumbnails-overview just disappears

any other work around idea?

greets
