HI,- 1st of all I have to say that I tried to solve the problems, read the faq, searched the forum and...worked a lot with try and error.

My english is not that good to understand the technical terms but Im pretty sure - a few people here can help me, by explaining me in easy english

a) What excatly is "lightview" - I marked it in the admin, unmarked it - couldnt see any change...

b) In the admin I can "enable/disable" HTML Gallery. Why - what is it for?

c) In config/modules/filemod - what function is this ?

d) In config/modules/filemod I can choose the "align", I tried cant see any effect - what should change?

e) In config/image/imagelayer/layer - I enabled and disabled the the function - but I cant see the effect. What effect should be on the page?

f) I really would like to change the text colour (name of the gallery at the startpage) - where can I change this ?

g) I would like to build in a guestbook - but...I have no idea how...

h) How can i set a "startpage" link in the menu? cause right now after entering the gallery there is no way back to main page...

i) How/where can I set the thumbnail size?

j) How can I sort the Albums in the menue?

k) How can I sort the pictures in the folders?

a) lightview is a viewing option for the HTML gallery. When enabled, it opens pictures in a DHTML layer instead of opening the fullsize image in a new page.

b) The HTML gallery (example: www.photo.gallery/soda/?p=html), is an optional gallery. Some like to have it just because not all visitors and deveices have the FLASH plugin, which is required to view the main flash gallery. Others use it actively. Some, including yourself, may not need it at all, but it doesnt generally hurt to have it enabled.

The settings you see in the admin, are related to this filemod. You wont see any changes unless you actually set up a filemod.

d) --"--

e) Imagelayer allows you to place a swf or any graphic above your photos. A few users use this to add a faux watermark above their images. If you havent added any graphic to use in any location, you wont see anything.

f) ALL text styles and coloring is done from your theme CSS stylesheet files. Read more here: viewtopic.php?t=4270

g) There is no guestbook in Imagevue, although we may be adding one later. You would have to use a 3rd party guestbook and open it in a new window or popup window. I dont have an overview over this ...

h) To enable the startpage link in the main menu, go to admin -> manage -> navigate to your startpage, then select "unhide this..." on the panel on the right. It will now display in your menu.

i) Thumnail sizes are set in admin -> settings. After changing the values there, you can go to "manage" and "create" thumbnails for a single folder or for all folders in the panel on the right.

j) Sort albums with the "foldersorting" option in settings. If you wanna sort manually, you need to rename folder on FTP "01_foldername", "02_otherfolder" etc. You still keep your original titles, so the number wont display.

k) Sort images with "imagesorting" option in settings.

I try later again and I ´ll post if it worked or not and maybe I have some additional questions - but that far, after a quick look at your answer I can say you already helped me a lot

Hi Karl,

your answers have been VERY useful - also - of course - I do have some more questions.

Lets start with the old questions and what did not work:

j) I renamed them via FTP: "01_XXYY" , "02_YYXX" but the number IS displayed now on the

webpage, and they are still NOT sorted!

After renaming them via Admin/Manage - the Number disappears (even if nothing changes on

ftp, there they still do have the numbers) but they are not sorted as named via ftp.

1) There is lets say a "shadow" over the thumbnail that are scrollable....how can I change

the shadow intensity?

2) WHen opening one of the folders, where can I change if there is a 1st picture displayed or the folder is 1st shown as a thumbnail overview? (I think I saw that option once but after so much try and error to find the correct line where to change the colour numbers Im a bit confused...)

and again - I appreciate your help!

Regarding your imagesorting, they would normally retain the original TITLE set in admin. Anyway, you can set the TITLE now from admin, and they will still keep their original names ...

To sort your images by filename, you need to go to admin -> settings -> settings.imagesorting ... Set to "NA" (name ascending).

Your other questions:

#1 - You mean the thumbnailscroller at bottom? All those settings are available in your THEME settings under ´thumbnails ´.

#2 - This is a global setting startmode, that decides wether your gallery start in image mode or thumbnails mode. It is under admin -> settings -> settings.startmode. It can ´t be set specifically for each folder.

but the sorting problem is not about the images - its about the FOLDERS in the menu...

I did - but the number appears at the folders and they are still not sorted!

... and did you go to admin -> settings -> settings.foldersorting = NA (name ascending)?

I solved some problems during waiting of response - I keep it here - with explanation - maybe someone finds it useful!

A) SOLVED
- I did renamed them on ftp but did not changed that option, after doing it - it worked but - when I did the same with a new folder - the number now still appears in the menu.
In admin config it looks like:
11_MISC
content/11_MISC/ 10 files
11.10.2009
10 files

on the ftp it looks like:
11_MISC

the result is displayed in menu as:
11_MISC (10)

how can I fix that (btw I already changed in admin/settings the folder sort option to something else - and switched back - did not solved the problem)

Solution: There MUST be a title given in manage/content/folder info!
It will not work (even a name is displayed in menu ) if you just (re)name it on the FTP!

B)
SOLVED
I would like to protect one of the folders with a user/passw function. How can I do this?
Solution: Quite easy with .htaccess (server based folder protection - google helps)

B1) But now when the mouse is over that folder the LogInBox pops up - even without clicking on the folder name. I guess - somehow - the mousehoover must be disabled for this specific folder.
How to do this ?

C)
I would really appreciate help about a build in Guestbook like this:

Id like to have a slideshow at start but with photoblind effect. Is that possible?

E)

B1) You can just disable a global setting like "mousehover" for just a single folder. Unfortunately, you will have to disable mousehover altogether. Why does it happen? Because the tooltip tries to load thumbnail from this folder. Sorry to say, settings .htaccess has no smooth integration with imagevue, you will have to deal with consequences Im afraid.

D) Sorry, photoblinds and slideshow are separate mods. It is somewhat complicated to combine them.

E) Not sure what you mean - The thumbnailscroller only appears in image mode. In thumbnails mode, it hides - I dont see the reason to display duplicate thumbnails on the same page ...
