Hello

I have not followed the forum in detail over the past weeks, so I am not sure if that has been requested before... but if you ever include an registration feature, an account managment subsystem or however you wanna call it, I would like to see one additional feature with that:

The possibility to let a visitor enter an optional keyword upon account creation (or enter it in the users account managment screen for existing accounts). -> The possibility to create a usergroup with access to a certain part of the gallery, which is linked to one or more keywords.
People who enter a keyword automatically gain membership to that linked usergroup, thus gaining the included permissions. (which then would "enable" a certain gallery for being visible and browseable)

That way, I could hand out little cards with my URL and a keyword to people, which they could then enter and see exactly the gallery of the event where they got the keyword. code. Password. whatever.
This is the best way to make sure only the parents and people involved to kids sports events I shoot pictures of, gain access to the specific gallery.
Also I don ´t want EVERYONE browsing the nude pics of my dog!

Of course you can simply set a password for a gallery. This however means you had to make all galleries viewable or hand out cryptic URLs and username and password...but I think not being visible is a big part of an effective protection. Also the usergroup integration would make it possible to inform only those who might be interested via email when a certain gallery changes. And it allows me to see if (and how many) people make use of the offered services, sometimes its a waste of time and you dont even realize it

I suppose you mean a system where a specific user-login relates to a specific folder or sub-section of your gallery? That would of course require login before the gallery actually displays(instead of having the password dialog appear when clicking a folder).

Or perhaps you are speaking of "usergroups" in terms of creating a specific login as part of a usergroup, which may have access to multiple folders?

In any case, we have had suggestions similar to this earlier, but I also know some people just want it simple with a single password for a folder without having to create groups, permissions and access. We will have to consider it closely ...

Ah its simply that a user could enter an additional keyword and then automatically joins the usergroup associated with that keyword.

Maybe its a little too geeky from me to even come up with that idea in the first place. Not too many people would probably even use it.

However the system could be applied to every user managment that has groups. I am thinking about requesting it for phpbb...never to have administrating every single user anymore, harhar gimme a cocktail and a cigar :D
