This problem occurs when you make the browser window small enough that the main start image and its title are seen behind the menu items. This looks pretty tacky and it would be nice if when resizing the window, the title would hit the menu and go no further thus eliminating the overlap. Is this something I can correct myself?

Sorry to say, the "startimage" feature is not very flexible. It simply loads what you tell it to load, aligns itself where you set it to align, and displays some text either above the image, or over it.
It does not resize the image or repos the text based on image size vs. stage size. The best thing to do is to a) position your startimage title OVER the startimage, instead of ABOVE(this can be done rom settings) or b) disable the startimage altogether and simply create your title on your startimage in photoshop or some other software. Also, I think its a good idea to have a reasonably small startimage as to be sure to fit within all screen sizes, also small ones ...
