What I liked about V2 was that I could align the edges and size of the main menu button with the drop down folder descriptions easily.

I could make the height and width of all menu buttons identical, so it was neat and tidy. All the buttons and the type in them was even and aligned.

I cannot seem to do this with X2. While I can change the text and font, the main menu button has dimensions and indent that I cannot seem to modify.
I also cannot modify the drop down folder description buttons either.

Or am I missing something?

Take a look in the "theme config"file...

theme>edit.... look for menu. I think what you are looking for is there.
Also, you posted another question about thumbnails being centered... look here in this file as well, but in the thumbnail section obviously.

I cannot seem to change the parameters I want, i.e. size of the buttons themselves, the indent of buttons, or button text, or centering the thumbnails on the stage.

The thumbnails margin in particular; changing this value doesn't seem to do anything at all.

So, you are trying to change various settings for the main menu? Perhaps you can provide me with log in to your admin - There is no reason why changing your settings shouldn't be working ... There is also a setting minimum_width which sets your menu items all be the same size.

The biggest issue for me is the ability to have the same indent for the main menu button text and the folder description text, thats all. Maybe this is not possible.

Unfortunately, that is not possible as we made that menu "flip" button have the menutext aligned in the middle of the button background.
