I have a feeling that the speed issue has more to do with the host.

At first I thought it might be bandwith:

Generation Time 0.544108 sec
But after a closer look:
http://www.jeffwongnyc.com/imagevue.php ... 1/cornell/
Generation Time 15.433658 sec
and then:
Generation Time 2.201808 sec
I believe this is shared host who you sharing with some other resource-demanding site. So when it needs power, it drains it from other sites.
