Download of Hi-Res version of images

Hi,

First of all thankyou for an amazing gallery system!, it's nice to see something that has had alot of effort put into it and the fact that you maintain a constant updating of it and the price point is spot on, well done!.

Now onto something I think will be the icing on the cake if its not already possible...

For gallery size and speed of loading all my images are reduced size of the originals, but maintain exactly the same file name as the originals, so for example my original file on my harddisk at home may be 2-3mb in size and 2600x2000pixels, whereas the gallery version would be 600x400 and about 120k, so that it loads nice and fast. Now you have an option to download this image which is fine, but to print this file professionally would not work well.

So my suggestion is...

To have perhaps a directory named HiRes, where all the original images are stored, and when you download from the gallery instead of sending you the file on display it sends you the hires version, so therefore you can crop and print to your hearts content!.

Hope this is either do-able now or something you would consider adding as im sure it would not take a great amount of modding to fix.

regards

Wayne

I would like to see something like this also. A easier way would maybe just let the download button be edited for each image. Then you keep the originals in a hidden folder and link the download button to these.

But in a way you can do this already it will just look like crap and unprofessional on the website. Say you have the edited web size photos your looking at on your webpage. Then create a subfolder to where people can view the full-size. only problem is the full-size will not fit correctly on the website but still if people see the same file name they will know its the full-size they can download.

unless someone knows of another way...

This should be possible already using the ALTIMAGE setting in config:
Code
Sets an extended folder path '_altimage/' to open a different version of selected image. Effects the functions popup, window and download image
