I am trying to move the main menu near the bottom of the page
but the vertical margin seems restricted to <200
are there other ways to move the menu?

I think you wont get it to bottom of page - You gotta remember, visitors are all on different monitor resolutions. If you move it too far, some users may not even see it, while on big screens it will still be quite far up.

Unfortunately, the menu was made to align with top left. You can use the various margin settings to move the menu slightly, but it is still attached to top left.
