Config file for more customization?

10 Mar 2009, 16:16

Hi, is there a config file or files somewhere that I can adjust for further customizations that aren't offered in the Admin?

Primarily I'm trying to set the slideshow to *not* repeat at the end, and to either go to the thumbnails page for the slideshow, or to a specified URL. I thought for sure this was an option in version 1x...
I haven't gotten response on how to do this in Admin, so I'm hoping I can manually set it in some file...

Any help? Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply -

Also sorry to say, there is no function for that. After a slideshow is "finished", it simply loops to image#1 again. I will add this feature in 2.1!

Thanks for the response, Karl. Good to hear the feature will be in 2.1 -- will we be able to specify a goto URL at end of slideshow?
Do you have any idea when 2.1 will release?

Glad you like my photography -- I love your software!

We have now added a new setting so you can choose the event action after the slideshow reaches the last image. This feature will be available in a new release coming in a few days. Below are some of my notes:

Added new slideshow "END" event option
- Choose between the following events once the slideshow reaches the last image:
# loop - loops the slideshow from last image back to first image (default)
# stop - stops the slideshow on last image
# thumbnails - goes to thumbnails mode after last image is displayed
# startpath - Loads the startpage/startpath after last image is displayed
# url - Go to a specific internal or external url after last image is displayed.*
- Only works in autoplay slideshow mode, eg. does not execute if user is browsing images manually.
- The new setting is available in admin -> settings.image.slideshow.end_event

*To use this option, you must also enable "url1" in settings.attributes.folder, and from there you can set separate links for each folder.

Hi Karl, thanks for the new features.
But, the one thing I was actually asking for isn't implemented! I want to be able to specify a unique URL to go to at the end of the slideshow -- for instance back to my home page, etc.
It seems like this would be some pretty simple coding to allow -- can you possibly make this happen?
Love the new interface by the way -- keep up the good work.

Sure, but where would you specify this link? Coding it in the flash isn ´t difficult, but then we need to add additional parameters to the XML and to the admin, where you would have a field per folder "Go to link after slideshow end: [ ... ]".

Just a little out of scope, thats all, as long as it has not been requested earlier ...

Hi Karl,
Thanks for the response! I was also kind of thinking the field could be in the folder page of admin. Also or otherwise, a global setting on the 'slideshow "END" event field that already exists -- ie. pasting in a URL there instead of 'loop', etc. This global would be overriden by anything specified in a given folder...
What do you think?

Thanks Karl!

Yea, but you think slideshow END event should always go to the same url then?

If I understand your question right, I would prefer to have end event settings specific to individual folders, so different slideshows could then go to different URLs. But, also having a url option on the global settings END event parameter would be useful, if that setting would be overruled by any individual folder setting...
Does that make sense?

yes.

I ´ll look into this, but it will be after the new admin we are working on. The new admin will have a better fundament for creating unique folder parameters.

Ok, fantastic. I don't suppose there is any workaround (a crude one even) for the moment that I could do to force a url jump at the end of slideshows (same jump for all the slideshows)?
For now I'm really just wanting all slideshows to jump back to my home page/menu at end...

Thanks Karl!

You want it to go to the homepage/startpage? that is already an option - "startpage" in config.

I've tried using the 'startpage' parameter, but at the end of slideshow it just goes to the thumbs of the gallery, not my root home page (www.gpmalone.com)

Can you take a look real quick? http://gpmalone.com/ -- then click on 'Wings' link at the bottom -- this is the shortest slideshow so you'll get to the end quickly.

Thanks Karl

Yes, well you have a custom homepage that is not part of the gallery itself. The startpage as defined in Imagevue X2, is the folder where Imagevue X2 starts when first accessing the gallery.

mmm, I was thinking you could try to set startpath to be a link to your homepage, but I doubt that will work properly. Unfortunately, I dont think there is any workaround for you currently. I checked your gallery - Wonderful images. I liked it so much that I have decided to add a fix as you request in an update coming within 2 weeks! Stay tunes ...
