Hey guys,

Thanks for all the hard work for (a) putting imagevue together and (b) continuing to update it so that it gets better with each release.

I finished my site a couple of months ago and am still delighted with the results. I tried to go for a simple design - please let me know what you think.

P.S. All the image descriptions, other than my recent New York gallery in the travel section requires to be inserted (it'll be a long process adding them all in!)

I think your gallery looks great, and your photography is wonderful! I really like the neon-green color with the dark/grey and the minimalistic approach. Your textpage is also very nicely formatted.

I have one comment for improvement:
You are using a basic header graphic with logo for your background image, and that works very nicely! However, I am on 1680px wide screen, and your graphic is only 1500px wide creating a visible 'glitch' on the left side. I suggest you extend the size of the graphic to 1920 pixels to cover large-resolution monitors. Since you are extending with a black monotone color, file size will not increase notably.

Another idea, may be to perhaps use a few different thumbnail sizes? For example in the "landscapes" folder, you could create thumbnails with a "wide" aspect (f.ex 150x75) just for style variation. I may be wrong of course, as consistency is a factor also ..

Thanks - I think the green colour was taken from a previous release of imagevue and I thought a splash of colour may add a bit more interest to site.

Great - thanks for pointing that out. I guess I hadn't realised how big people's monitprs/resolutions are these days

Yeah, I see what you mean - it would work particularly well for landscape shots. About 98% of my shots are shot in landscape orientation so it wouldn't be a huge problem for the few that are shot in portrait orientation. I may give it a shot but will also need to bear in mind the consistency factor you mentioned.

I did take a look at john wallers website and in essence all I'm trying to do is understand how I work with the background image etc so that I can add a title to the top. I am currently using the abyss theme and have gone into admin and edited the theme and uploaded other background images just to see what happens - and so far nothing has happened lol, so I'm not doing something right, please advise ? Thanks

There's a couple of ways to do this, you need to look here - "Pain's logo guide" first and figure things out for your self. Whichever works best, there are lots of options like I said for where the Logo go's.

In this instance the John has put an image 1920px wide by about 100px high. With his logo (colour coded) into the image aligned "Right".

Experiment with this new knowledge and let us know in your own thread how it comes out. Alternatively start a new thread in the right place in the forum to get a quicker response. I would put it: X2 Themes?

My only gripe: Waaaaay too many photographs. Unless you wanted to show friends and family, I can't imagine a client ever going through 1/5 of these. Perhaps reducing the amount of menus too?
