Is there any way to apply the imagelayer to certain images, as opposed to the layer showing on every image?

This is not possible unfortunately. The setting is global. But we are thinking this way.

That would require a setting in admin for every image "apply imagelayer" ... and also perhaps some selector to choose the imagelayer. You would have to set it for every image. Isn't that a little awkward?
