MainMenu Description Settings

30 Dec 2008, 10:25

Is there a way to configure the horizontal and vertical textmargin for the descriptions? Sorta like we can with the menu elements?

Unfortunately, we are trying to minimize the amount of "junk" config items, so the margins for the folderscription tooltip are hardcoded.

Strange... How about inherit them from the menu items instead of hard coding? It just makes it look unbalanced.

You think my ideas are junk...

hehe ... no. Only thing is, we are facing the fact that we made the gallery with too many settings. Some are very important, while others mean absolutely next to nothing, and they are bloating the gallery. On top of it all, for each little setting, the gallery is being put in jeopardy of loosing its conformity - We are responsible for all these config items to work together in symbiosis! I guess I'm thinking a little in terms of the Apple-mentality - less is more.

As you put it this way, its obvious are seeing it from a design perspective and that I can appreciate! There are enough people who just want a knob for everything to dismantle the gallery.

The way I saw it, sufficient margin on a tooltip never hurt anyone, so I added it like that. Isn't it a little tricky to bind it to the main menu, which many might like minimal? OF course, if you are insistent, I might need to add a specific setting ... 8)

You know, if you're ever in the Philadelphia area you best call me so we can all share a beer or two!

Thank you for your insight on how to possibly get it added, but I respect your answer. Actually, that's one of the main reasons I love this product - it's the fact that you actually thought about the features that were put into the product before throwing them in, instead of just doing something and making up reasons when needed. That I appreciate!

As far as a knob for every setting though - that's me!!! And don't worry, if there's anything that I think should have a special knob (ahem: Neat Idea), I'll be the squeaky wheel! :D

Thank you Karl!
