i think we should control background opacity. for example we can change background its good but when i look the picture, bacground make me dizzy. so i can't concentrate the image so i think when we go to image mode from thumbs background can be darker. it will be cool and if we can control opacity from css it will be cooler

Fullscreen Alpha/Opacity changes might be too CPU intensive, unfortunately.

Most of the default themes have very soft backgrounds ... I think that if you need a less distracting background, you should create a very subtle background or even use set background to false and use a monotone color.
