Using a Flash SWF background with actionscript ..not working

Hello,

Iam trying to load a swf background in the abyss Theme. The background swf has some actionscript which works standalone. see link http://www.thebbqking.eu/gallery/imagev ... Flash8.swf

But when i call this from the gallery http://www.thebbqking.eu/gallery/ the actionscript is not working anymore. Is the actionscript not passed through your script ?

Is there a Solution for this ?

I am going to have to look into this - It seems like there is some common bug with SWF backgrounds. I'll post here after I have looked into it ...

Any update/progress on the common bug with SWF backgrounds and actionscripting ?

The general SWF issue I had in mind was solved. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to sort your background. I tried it, and it loaded, but without the FX.

There could be several reasons why custom SWF may not work in Imagevue:

#1 If it is exported for anything else than AS2.0, it may not work because the base of Imagevue is exported as AS2.0. You can't just run multiple AS versions in the same flash.

#2 The code in the custom SWF may be interfering with the code in the imagevue gallery and vice versa.

#3 Does the background SWF work when loaded into another movieclip? Does the custom SWF has it's own methods of alignment?

I would suggest looking into #1. Unfortunately, there may be many reasons for why a custom SWF will not work when loading into imagevue, and we can't really do much to improve it.

Was this issue fixed? I have an swf that was exported as AS2.0 (flash 8), but when I upload it to Imagevue and set it as background. It only shows a background color of the swf not the actual swf movie.

Any help would be appreciated!

Also noticed, if i link directly to the swf file it will show up fine..but not if I go through the Imagevue gallery.

Experiment with your AS how does the movie start and does it auto start in the correct way. Karl has mentioned to upload the SFW to him, very nice offer. Maybe if you posted the AS your using it would be more helpful, along with the FLA / SWF, this would allow us to all see what works should you get a resolution, it would also mean we can all try and help except piling more work onto Karls lap right away.

Maybe you should do this in your own thread, for maximum impact and to advertise the topic more precisely?
