How do I display thumbnails automatically?

Hi,
Just started playing around with version 2. I see a lot of great improvements -- especially being able edit configuration using the GUI is great!
I want to display thumbnails in a certain folder automatically as soon as the user pulls up the website -- just like in the dragon theme example.
I thought it was pretty easy to set up but it didn't work. I set the StartPath under the theme I'm using but that didn't do it. What am I missing?
Also, I like the way thumbnails displayed in the dragon theme -- they have a nice frame around them -- as opposed to the gardener theme which has no frames.
I'd appreciate some pointers in these two settings.
